ACERBIS Mud-Flap
« on: May 17, 2011, 08:21:21 AM »
So with the paranoia that my XC might get dirty I have gone out of my way to install both a R&G Shock Sock and an ACERBIS Mud Guard!

All those 'rear huggers' looked too... err... well, just too flashy and flimsy! I wanted something along the lines of K.I.S.S! (Keep It Simple Stupid!). So my dealer - Moto91 here in Hri, Switzerland - installed an 'ACERBIS mud flap'.

Link: Offroad 2011 Catalog - Page #242

There was the need to place a few washers to take up the recess from the plastic form:

And also cut out to fit the profile. It touches - ever so lightly against the swing arm - but nothing to write home about.

All in all - I'm a VERY HAPPY CHAPPY!

Leave the pork pies for now - get the sausage rolls while they're hot!

BRILLIANT  :028: job this is just what I was looking for as I'm not a hugger fan. Have been mulling over options mentioned by others such as cutting down car mats etc but this is just the job spot on. Don't suppose you have a link to the mud guard you bought have you?
Many thanks,
Seilna

Yup - the link is also in the above post and here once again below:

If you look at the page 242, you can see the model. My dealer ordered it - so I'm not 100% sure which exact model it was, but I'll ask when I go around again this evening.

Lots of options there. Do let us know which one you installed  :169:
Why do I get strange looks when I say my hobby is "curves"?

 :138:

The TOP item ......................... :187:  I'm guessing?

                                             UNIVERSAL MUD FLAP  - Code 0008320.090   :008:

And because I'm GOOD to you all ...........................

     http://www.mx1west.co.uk/acatalog/Universal_Mud_Flaps.html

As you'll see from Birdy68's photos - it's been modded a bit (cut on R/H end) -  Saw a couple of these in a KTM stockist a while back - only difference between the two KTM ones they had (that I remember seeing)  was one was slightly narrower than the other (off-road MX Back end - over a slightly fatter 'Road' Bike one!). Plastic Flap was pretty malleable so should fit the profile of the S/A opening OK - worth a try and if you off-road and a much better option than a Hugger!  :047:

I fitted a cheap Plain Large Mudflap from M&P Direct using No More Nails Adhesive Strips from Amazon to the subframe of my 950 SMR below the battery compartment. Not as substantial as the Acerbis item and the KTM has a tiny mudguard that this flap hangs behind, but did the job.
