Question for those who have done it. We are thinking of June time, wondering if accommodation is easy to find on the West/North coasts. Basic B&B small hotels?

We want to hoof it without pre-booking so we can set our own pace.

I think you will really be taking a big risk, earlier this month I booked accommodation around the NC500 for May (through booking.com) and found accommodation quite difficult naturally in the rural areas. June will be tighter.

With booking.com you can book rooms which can be cancelled up until quite near the time without being charged, from Inverness we have just allowed four overnights with daily travel averaging 154 miles per day ending in Fort William. Even on the single track roads it will be a leisurely pace from a relaxed breakfast to check-in around 5 - 6pm at the next stop.

Last from me. It is much easier to get one double than multiples of twins.
Don't let me spoil the anticipation/flexibility by booking it all.

I use Booking.com a lot. Looking at it just now there is a serious lack of quality (affordable) accommodation on roughly the dates I want.

Rethink i think!

Accommodation?? Midges?? Weather??

Try AirBnB, I swear by it, never stayed in a bad place, stayed in many truly lovely ones with lovely people.  Cheap as chips.
