I did it last year, North to south but starting in Sligo.   If you follow the signs all the way then 6 days probably won't be enough.  There are too many awesome places to mention.   Looking back through my FB posts, there's one that says "The sky road loop at Clifden is the best road ever".   It seems I also enjoyed Tralee and had some mighty fine food everywhere I went.

Some day, when I'm absolutely loaded and my wife doesn't have me chained to the family (fair enough, we've a three year old) I want a fortnight to do this back home. Mind you, getting that time off, getting the money for it, and getting two weeks of decent-ish weather is WAY too much to hope for...  :125:

Heading over in August 3 - 7 from Edinburgh. Meeting pals from Germany. Staying AirBnB between Clara and Ballycumber in Co Offaly.
Looking forward to some good roads and fine whiskey.
Maybe a pint or two of Guiness.

Ask the land owner would be my advice.  Land is a touchy subject in Ireland.
Stupid is as stupid does.

Ask for permission for sure. Most will not have a problem when approached correctly and u leave everything as u found it. As a land owner who has had disrespectful campers on my land without permission I might add. I left them be only to have my goodwill paid back with rubbish and toilet paper and the rest in plain sight. What im saying is it only takes one to spoil it. And u dont know who has been there before you. Good luck on your trip  :028:
