My 2012 800 road, handlebar and side sockets both live. I find the simpler Optimate 2 does the job quite nicely  :001:

:0461: Like ^^^he said, get the optimate 2 which comes with the fused battery connection lead. Lots of sellers on ebay or Sportsbikeshop is usually competitive & better if you get a problem with it.

Probably over complicating things trying to charge through the HELLA, when a Optimate plug would just as easy.

Thanks for your help all :028:

My next post in this section will be looking how to undo the mess the previous owner did with the Sat Nav.
Teed into the rear socket and spliced into one of the relays/ fuses  :138:

I actually find the DIN plugs more convenient to plug into. Optimate do straight forward adapter leads to connect the din plug to optimate plugs ( be careful as there are 2 optimate leads the old small flat white (Tamia) plugs, and the new black 2 pin connectors), made up my own as its a bit cheaper than Optimates 17 odd.  :028:

I use whichever of the two Hella sockets is most convenient for the charger (a CTEK). I prefer that to having bits of wire dangling around the place.
