    The coolant reservoir is higher than the radiator. When you uncapped the radiator the coolant in the reservoir was siphoned. Physics. With the radiator cap in place, refill the reservoir till it shows in the window then go and ride.
    You cannot win by making your neighbor lose.

    I had the same kind of issue. The Spring of the radiator cap was tired. So the radiator pressure were too high so the coolant was too hot, boiling, and overflowing from the expansion tank. Below is my method for easily checking the spring.
