Hey guys, I got it working. I had to step through a reset sequence I'll outline below.
This is the switch layout on my 2017 XCX:

Key in off position
Kill switch in [X] (off) posiition
Put bike in Neutral
Sit on bike, kickstand up.
Make sure the CC is off (pre 2017)
Turn on Key
Turn on Ignition (Red lever kill switch on / down)
Green light for CC should be blinking (Mine was anyway)
Start the reset sequence:
Activate the Front Brake Switch by pulling and releasing the front brake
Activate the Rear Brake Switch by pressing and releasing the rear brake pedal
Activate the Clutch Switch by pulling and releasing the Clutch
Activate the Twist Grip Cruise Control cancel switch by operating and holding the throttle grip in the fully closed position
Press the Cruise Control On/Off switch to ON (on the ’15, +/Accel switch on '17)
Press the Cruise Control +/Accelerate Switch
Press the Cruise Control -/ Decelerate Switch
CC light should stop blinking
Since I did that, I've had perfectly functioning cruise control.
Just want to say thanks for posting this, as this restored my cruise control this morning.
After some issues with clutch I was scratching my head this morning as cruise control pin seemed engaged fine and then turned to this forum.
