There is a few threads on this other way of doing it with a two holed Ram mount on the existing plate under the screen mounting bolts.  I found two here :

Another option is to use a U-bolt Ram mount on the bar in the same area.  Discussed here - page 14

Not necessarily these companies, I did find them cheaper on Ebay but can't spot them at the moment, but you get the idea.
The 2 hole Ball mount fits perfect on the alloy bracket, it looks massive in the picture but it not.

I quite like 'Mick's' bracket - you do have to drill a couple of small holes the the screen bracket for it but it's simple stuff and out of sight

Tinkering is what happens when you try something you dont quite know how to do, guided by whim, imagination, and curiosity.

SW Motech is just perfekt http://shop.sw-motech.com/cgi-bin/cosmoshop/lshop.cgi?action=showdetail&wkid=150410187115787&ls=de&nc=1504101901-16786&rubnum=brands.triumph.tig800&artnum=GPS.11.823.10000/B&id=63&gesamt_zeilen=50Tshowrub--brands.triumph.tig800&typid=269056053
I am using this one for more than 3 years now and it works like a treat. I bought the mounting plate as a spare part for 20 Euros because I already had the ram mount ball and the ram mount 1'' extension.

Fixed it in a couple of minutes, no need to drill holes anywhere...

Like that a lot. Very tidy.
I assume it takes the 595LM.
Doesn't matter where I'm going, getting there on two wheels is always the better option.
