Metzeler Roadtec 01's
« on: October 18, 2017, 05:51:21 PM »
I'll probably change my tyres in preparation for next year's travels. I've currently got PR4 Trail on the bike but I'm considering having Metzler Roadtec 01 fitted. Has anyone got any views on them, positive as well as negative?

They are currently rated the best sports touring tire.

For what it's worth I know nothing about the Metzeler Roadtec 01's but I would be amazed if they are better than the PR4's.

Keep us updated on how they compare, interested to hear what you think.  :028:

I've not had the bike long so haven't done that many miles on the PR4s. I would always prefer to get the best that's out there and noticed the 01 had the MCN award this year for best tyre.
I'm intrigued if anyone has ridden on both for a direct comparison.

I had Metz 01's fitted after doing the first year on the original Scorps  :151: and have not long come back from a 2500 mile round trip to Croatia, all types of roads mountain passes full luggage and pillion and they were confidence inspiring, so 'sure footed' over any surface.

I fitted these as they were also top of another tyre comparison a while ago.

I have done around 4500 miles on them and still have loads of wear left and show only the slightest squaring with loads of autobahn miles from my European trip.

I tried to get the PR 4's but there was a problem with sizes/delivery at that time so cannot give a direct comparison but wont be changing for anything else other than 01's. :152: :047: :046:

I have had these tyres on since June. I think they are very good. Confidence inspiring. Compared to the PR4 I think they ride the bumps a little better. I have had no problems in either the wet or dry. they seem to be wearing very well. I can see why MCN rated them so highly. If you fit these I am sure you will not be disappointed.
