Triumph heated grips - not working?
« on: October 18, 2017, 06:12:26 PM »
Just purchased 2 weeks ago a 2013 Tiger 800. See photo, the on/off is by the left hand rubber grip.

See the heated grips, this has a on & off and you can select very hot, less hot etc. I think there are about 5 settings.

Today it wouldn't turn off and then when i turned ignition off and then on the thing wouldn't work at all. It shows a brief white light (it's getting power presumably) when ignition gets switched on then nothing. Checked fuses and all good.

I assume this is a Triumph OE original equipment,  set of grips BUT I may be wrong, they could be after market. I am not sure?

The bike sales place, where I bought the bike,  is not a Triumph franchise or anything ,  I bought it from a small dealer and he said he'd ask a guy he knows at Triumph. Only happened today doh  :157:

Any ideas what it can be?

I think you're probably right. Thanks.

Apollo are these...

These look like the ones I have.

I suspect the dealer may not want to know.

Do I have to buy a new pair and ask him to fit them, but for free? That seems reasonable as I only picked up the bike on 7th October. I don't think he'll want to buy them as it's an item that does wear out. Any views welcome.

I'd be asking for them replaced at no cost to you TBH

If you have a choice, put some Oxfords on.

Don't go for oem  Triumph heated grips,  they're stupid expensive and mine  (which were a free bee when I bought it) have failed  x3 !  Also if I tighten up the bar ends it shorts them out - slacken off, new fuse and they work again!  Crazy

No, I don't think I will. On e bay they're asking silly money for the Triumph grips and quite honestly a new pair of Oxford Heated Grips are about 40. I'm going to see if dealer will play ball and buy/fit them.

We'll see?

Honest dealers  :232: Lets give him a chance first and see ?
