Inner tubes!?
« on: November 23, 2017, 06:46:54 PM »
Should I get new inner tubes?
About to get a set of Anakee 3's fitted to my 800xca. The current tubes have done 16000 miles.

Anyone? :027:

New annekee 3s fitted today,  along with a new inner tube.  Tbf, I also had a puncture,  but as said I carry the  ( good) old inner tube when touring.  As it happens when I got a puncture in Morocco a local bike shop speedily fixed it with a new tube so that time it wasn't needed.

In a disposable world why wouldn't you?  Too many other things need addressing before I beat myself up about buying a new tube when the old one is technically serviceable

mine have done just shy of 40k miles, you really don't need to worry at 16k :028:

The current tubes have done 16000 miles.
Altho miles in-use may be of some concern? -- age has a far more detrimental effect on rubber products.
With something-like 4 ~ 5 years (generally) listed as maximum.
Of course, dealers, tire companies, etc. will recco replacing...  :033:
I've ridden all-around the United States and parts of Arkansas.

As the OP has bought Michelin here is their advice ... which as indicated is deterioration due to age if no other negative factors have had an effect:

Thanks!
My tubes are only 15 months old, so if they look good they can stay!
