Sheared Sump Guard Bolt
« on: December 17, 2017, 03:16:30 PM »
JUST gone to complete the winter clean and found that the bolt and the rubber mount from the rear left hand that hold the sump guard on has sheered off

It has sheared right through  the bolt and the rubber mount
done about 1000 miles since it had it's 1200 service and the sump was removed.by a non triumph dealer
but triumph trained

had the one at the front ,that holds on the bracket..that holds the guard on ,unwind into exhuast last year,
when the guard was removed by triumph
also posted buy a few people

any one else,

can the bolt be taken out it is it a new sump,

another bugger on this bike

Admin Edit:  Title amended to remove CAPITALS

Hi
Possibly you can get something out of this old thread.

Old ebay links no good but descriptions may help fresh search if relevant. :084:

Radio control anti vib mounts.  Work a treat.  Just search along with bolt size.

Has anyone found an equivalent hexagonal shaped one?

Have found that there its an equivalent item for BMW R1200-GS's.
And it was marginally cheaper than OEM Triumph.

I know, I know, fitting a BMW part may amount to burning-at-the-stake.........

Thanks Dave, I don't think it's difficult to find the round ones, but I was looking for the hex ones. They don't seem to have the correct thickness?

Out of interested, why does it have to be a hex one?

Easier to undo when they break.
