Where to fit Sat Nav on new 2018 Tiger 800

Ah ok I figured it might be the bulk of the sat nav mount that prevented it going further back . I think mike the bikes mount is my preferred one as I also don’t want the nav going up or down with the screen height. I’ll drop him a message and see if he still has any .

I guess all the problems of mounting sat have have been resolved so I am late to the party.
I have the evotech Garmin model on a 2018 t800 xrt.
A lovely bit of kit and for me the satnav is in just the right place and no real problems with vibration.
However ... If I have the screen higher in a low speed area and hit a bump it will bounce down a slot or two. As a result I have to lift the screen up before getting on the gas. At speed, the wind pressure keeps everything nicely in place ... and then into the next slower area and we start again. 
I am chatting with evotech customer service to see if they can help. They say they have not heard of this before but will investigate. Maybe I am just special.

No not resolved as yet. There is still no aftermarket Sat Nav mount available for fixing above the TFT screen that doesn't bounce or wobble unfortunately.

Hi Martymouse, had a similar issue, FWIW i fitted some thin fuel pipe inside the spring washers on the upper screen bolts to beef up the locking action

Yes, I was considering how to reduce the spring action. I have suggested to evotech that they include stronger springs in their kit ... same idea in practice.
However I should say in the lowest position it is perfectly stable.

I had same problem as you Martymouse so fixed the screen in middle position with rubber washers.

This obviously means I have no adjustment, so would be interested if you find a solution.

I might try the petrol pipe method.

I’m a bit late to this party here but I have just fitted a sat-nav bracket made by forum member Mike on a Bike to my XCA and am really pleased with it
It's much easier and safer to see my sat-nav now just above the instruments than down on the bars where it was before.

As stated earlier in this thread by Mike some finishing off is required as the bracket is supplied as is, strait from the casting.
I used a file followed by an emery wheel on a drill to smooth off and then drilled the necessary 3 holes, one 6mm & two 8mm.
Finally I painted it black with a spray can of Hammerite Semigloss Black. (don't try this in the garage, it really is best done outside!)

To mount my TomTom clamp to the bracket I used this 1” RAM ball which has a M6 female thread found on ebay here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-RAM-B-273-M6-1-Ball-with-M6-Threaded-Hole/122401564775?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648
And attached it to the bracket with a 16mm M6 Button Head bolt.
Two 25mm M8 Button Head bolts with Flanged Locknuts were used to attach the bracket to the fairing mount.

I believe Mike might still have a couple more brackets left should anyone else be interested in one.
But I don’t think he’s planning on casting any more, so if you like the look of this bracket, get one while you can!

I purchased the Evotech mount but it came with an adjustable pivot where the GPS mounts. Seems good but after 6 miles of gravel and dirt road it just loosens up and the screen flops down.

Terrible for riding off the pavement. I'll try some tricks to lock it more permanently in place.

A couple of thin rubber washers between the plate and frame should and spring washers on the screws should take care of that easy.
