2018 Screen - still buffeting at highway speed
« on: March 14, 2018, 02:46:27 PM »
Hi,

I picked up my 2018 XRT today - even with the adjustable screen I still get a lot of buffetting at highway speed.

Any ideas on what can help - or do I just wait to wait for aftermarket options.

Thanks

I've got one of the Puig 6319w clip-on adjustable spoilers on my touring screen and it works great for me, 5'10" with seat on high position.
A lot cheaper than replacement screen and if it doesn't work for you you can always stick it on ebay.

Same advice as any other screen.  Add an adjustable lip.

Am in the process of fabricating a custom spoiler for me standard screen. Have made the spoiler and mounting brackets. Now need to design a method of mounting that doesn't require drilling of main screen.

I found that the Wunderlich spoiler helped a lot on my last 800 - both normal and touring screens and also my Tex.

I am too new to my 800 to know what I want but I do have the spoiler on standby.

Yup. Same here. Bit disappointed after all the guff about advanced aero design!

Ditto that. I've got one on the Triumph touring screen and airflow is perfect (for me). 6'1", 34" inseam.

If you want the full fairing effect of getting as much wind off you as possible, check out the Madstad. Where I live, keeping cool is a bigger issue than keeping warm.

Nowt to do with warm, cold, or buffeting for most of us it's the wind noise that's the problem. No cure suits all.

A cheap flip screen might help, perhaps you could borrow one to see if it works?

Did you come from a previous gen Tiger and if so how does the screen compare?

What height are you and which helmet do you wear?
