Luggage Set Under $1000?
« on: April 25, 2018, 10:39:52 PM »
Hey Guys,

Just bought my first ever Tiger 800XC yesterday and so the work begins to make it my own. Its a 2013 Tiger 800XC and came with a few upgrades here and there but the main thing its missing is the side panniers and top case. It still has the GIVI Monokey frame still attached so ideally it would be nice to reuse it, however it would also be nice to replace it with a quick detach system.

My main question is this: What is a good recommendation for side panniers and top case for under $1000? Either reusing the GIVI side frames, or just starting over and replacing those as well. What panniers work with the GIVI monokey side mounts that are not GIVI?

Thanks for the help, Josh

Enduristan Monsoon 3 panniers and an Enduristan 30 or 50 Litre Tornado bag across the back seat.

Kapper are made by Givi, still good quality but a lot cheaper.

Kappa KGR here   - I have 2 x 33 Litre side cases  & 52 Litre top case  - all on Givi Quick Release PLR .

Same quality as Givi - but less expensive . Used these for 3 years now & now problems even when loaded  all the to max 10kg.

Bought the case direct from Italy  ( when the pound was strong against the Euro )  and worked out so much cheaper then the UK  even when adding freight cost .

:0461: on looking abroad. I got my Givi SR6401 (?) mount from Italy on eBay and the Givi Tracker box from Germany. Worthwhile saving on both.

When I recently upgraded from a KLR 650 with hard cases, I decided to give soft luggage a go..  ended up buying Reckless 80 setup from mosko moto.  They don't require a rack at all, but can be thrown over one since you already have it..  Lots of pics of them on bikes here:

Product page here:

Video overview here:

Just a note..  I did read they are coming out with an updated v2.1 soon, with some minor changes..  might want to contact them first if you decide to purchase.

If set on hard cases, Tusk and Solobox are popular tough and cheap options, you would have to probably find a set of universal puck mounts and drill the boxes for puck mounts to hang on your current setup.

Or for more storage and still utilising your Givi racks, check out the Mosko Moto Back Country 35L set.

Even tho' I have the OEM Expedition panniers, I can definitely see a set of these in my future.

And they are quick detach too.  I am 100% confident they will attach to the OEM racks once the top cast latch bar is unscrewed.

I'd be very surprised if the Mosko wedge mounting system did not fit your racks

Combine this with one of their Duffles and you would have plenty of storage.
