BLack forest / Freudenstadt - any tips or advice?
« on: July 10, 2018, 02:25:18 PM »
Hello- we are visiting the Black Forest between 14-21st September- we are quite flexible with our plans as it is a motorcycle trip but was just wondering if there are any events or beer festivals etc during these times that can be recommended and help with planning. If anyone has any suggestions it would be really helpful. We are planning to spend 3 nights in freudenstadt but if anyone can offer any tips or advice it would be great. We are really looking for real German biergartens etc and any areas or sights that we can take in whilst on route from the ferry in Amsterdam and back again. Thank you.

If you're in the area at the south end of the B500, then a visit to Neuhausen am Rheinfall and check out the Rhine Falls, worth a look see, quite spectacular..

You'll have a great time riding the 500 from Baden-Baden to Waldshut, stopping at caffs & chin wobbling with other bikers. Usually something going on at Tittisee & Baden-Baden.

Meersburg on Lake Bodensee is well worth a ride out, beautiful small town with its many lakeside bars & restaurants.

Follow "Schwarzwaldhochstrasse" and any of these wonderful small roads there. No need go far.
Ride direction towards Alpirsbach, Schiltach. Stunning views.
If possible prevent weekends

Good and reasonable priced german food available in many restaurants near centre market, i.e. Turmbraeu (home brew), Jaegerstube, zum Kaiser.
If you are a icecream lover.... several great shops in that area as well
The market is a nice place to sit outside and enjoy life

A few km out of town direction Horb on B28 you will find a small town called Aach. "Gasthof Waldgericht" is a more than 600 years old hotel, very quiet with an excellent kitchen.

I am jealous.....
