Engine Management Light
« on: July 12, 2018, 06:06:21 PM »
Evening. Recently changed the air filter on my wife 2012 800. Like a daft lad forgot to refit the map sensor ( so we think) realised with seconds, stopped the bike, fitted it about then re started. The bike runs fine but the EML is on. Ive tried the legendary three heat cycle resets but its still there. Ridden the bike abt 40miles still the same. There feels nothing wrong with it but its annoying the boss. Other than taking it in, any suggestions ?

Cheers in advance

Did you perform the three heat cycles correctly?

Fairly sure 90%. Do they have to be done, one after the other without riding the bike do you know ?

Shouldn't make any difference. The ECU records the completion of each heat cycle regardless of what else you do in between, AFAIK.

The only difficulty in running the heat cycles is knowing when the temperatures are at the levels required.

If it's too annoying, you can use TigerTool, TuneECU etc to check & clear the error.

Cheers Vince, the bike seems fine, running a bit less economical, smells rich. Well see how we go. Out today for a wander around Derbyshire
