I am have come back from the Japanese side :-)
« on: July 15, 2018, 07:52:40 PM »
Hi All, I used to have a Tiger 800 XC  a couple of years back and always regretted selling. So I have now got shot of the Africa Twin and bought a 2018 Tiger 800 XRT and I am loving it.

Welcome back to your happy place on a spanking new Tiger.

Dare we ask why the change from the AT - a bike that many believe is a very competent machine indeed?

What in particular was it about the AT that finally pushed you over the edge and back onto a your Tiger?

These two vids, Parts 1 and 2 are pretty interesting and fairly well done comparison of the AT vs BMW F850GS vs Tiger.

Thanks for the welcome.
The 2017 Africa Twin I had is a nice looking bike hence why a bought one but I did not enjoy the ride and issues with it.
1. Speedo is 5mph out.
2. Stalled when pulling away on many occasions and it wasn't me been riding for 30+ years.
3. I had the wheels replaced when it was only 6 months old due to rusty spokes.
4. I done a 1000 miles round Scotland in May and with the winds gusting up to 60mph I couldn't keep it in a straight line.
So with all that it had to go before I found anything else like a rusty frame as has been reported.
The report above is the new Adventure model which is meant to be be better but so is the price and height.
Loving the XRT so far and its definitely moved on since the 2012 XC I had before. Going to Switzerland next year on it and cannot wait.  :152:
