Brecon Beacons Quarry
« on: August 13, 2018, 03:16:43 PM »
I took a ride around a old quarry in Wales and thought I would share some pictures. It was a good opportunity to practice some off road riding.

Hi, that looks a lot like Trefil Quarry?
If it is, it has been the location of many feature films, Transformers was the last I worked on there, and Wrath of the Titans the first, but my question is how did you gain entry as the gate nearest Tredegar is always locked and I'd be keen to get in myself....?

I just rode up from the Heads of the Valleys Road. There is a working quarry on the right as you go up. I follows a truck and continued to the top - the google maps link on my OP should centre on the old quarry.

This gate was open - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.8095146,-3.2794946,3a,75y,346.55h,64.23t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1swA_Y5Fnt7lgVKnihJ5zaqA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

There are loads of tracks where people have taken off road bikes, some will really test your skills, others are more gentle. Is worth a visit and the views from the very top are good.

if you head further south along the A4067, not far from Touratech Ystragynlais, Triumph have their off road school, they head north on the A4067 most mornings and play around North Swansea / Brecon Beacons

Brilliant pictures! The bike looks in it's element in that quarry, especially with the distinct lack of colour.
Added to my "to visit" list.
