With grip puppies, do the heated grips just take more time to get up to a hot temperature, or do they reduce the temperature any?

I suspect there is a marginal increase in warm up time and possibility a minor decrease in temp but compared to my other bikes with heated grips its nothing to worry about.

Only used mine a couple of times here in Aus last Saturday it was 10 degrees and raining so put the grips on still very quick to heat up and soon turned them down to the lower heat setting so they still work very well indeed.

Fitted grip puppies to my Tiger today.  Tried heating in boiling water, then mild soapy liquid solution.  Would have to be Hercules to get them on over the raised end on the Tiger grips.  Quick spray with WD40 and hey presto on straight away.
Not tried them yet, but mates who have them think they are the bees knees.
