Black Header Pipes
« on: September 16, 2018, 10:54:12 AM »
Noob question please.

My new to me 2016 XRT has black header pipes fitted. Are they a standard fitting ? The only other XRT I knew of, a 2017 model,  had the usual steel/yellowly colour headers.

Must say I like the black ones very much. No more polishing required.   :001:

TIA

JJ   :031:

Non-standard AFAIK - I've not seen them before. What sort of finish is it? I'd be interested to see pics if you have the time.

Used to be popular on carbon steel exhaust, special high temp paint, PJ1 is the most popular now, don't know how well it sticks to stainless, probably need an etch primer   https://www.thevisorshop.com/en/gb/PJ1--Paints-16-HIT-Fast-Black-Hi-Temp-Exhaust/m-5490.aspx?PartnerID=21&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=UnitedKingdom&gclid=Cj0KCQjwof3cBRD9ARIsAP8x70Psx4JPkOG3C3QmYgCqM8BiUgLCT4TxnrPWcBYgTmfs9xyKeZacgUsaAqoOEALw_wcB

Sorry but I have a problem posting image. Warning stating image file too large coming up. Yet I managed to post another image successfully in the test/try out section earlier. That image was taken on the same Samsung tablet so I'm stumped.  :087:

I will see if I can get one of my grand kids to sort it for me next visit.  :038:

Black finish on headers is Matt and looks a very professional job however it was done.

No worries, they sound very nice. I think the standard tarnished finish always looks grubby.
