Tiger 800xc preload tension adjuster wrecked?

Hi All. New to this forum having recently bought my first tiger 800xc.
I tried to adjust the preload today and found the adjuster was seized solid. After a using gallons of WD40 and endless wiggling I managed to free it up and get it moving nicely. The flat head tip of the adjuster had been trashed by previous owner trying to do the same thing (I guess).
Upon further investigation I found a bump at the rear of the preload adjuster.
It looks as though the ball bearing which I assume gives the ‘click’ when adjusting has tried to burst through the casing.
I’ve attached some pics here.
Anyone ever seen/done this before?
Is this likely to have been caused by heavy off road use/drop off/jump etc?
Cheers!

Spraying some WD40 or some other lubricant in where the detent balls are is good measure. My adjuster has become hard to turn on several occasions. I don't think it would really matter if the detents didn't work as there is a lot of pressure on the adjuster and imagine it wouldn't move anyway. If you want to take the black plastic detent cover off I believe it has left handed threads, the best I remember.

Deep-six the detents, I did. They just deteriorate and you don't need them anyway, just count turns from one limit to the other (20 from memory?) then use this to work out your setting.
Also (from memory 10mm or 8mm nut?) you can use a socket wrench instead of the flat-blade screwdriver.
Laterally unstable unless moving.

I unseized mine the other day
I used an 8mm socket on the end of a 21" breaker bar, and some gentle nudging. There are 10 clicks, according to my shock. Glad I got it moving, was thinking I might have to give Nitron some more of my money
Also, unlike yourself, I was lucky and after a bit of GT85 and moving to and thro, it turns and clicks.

Search eBay for an adjustment handle. Believe they were made by a guy on here originally. They sit over the hex part and clamp on with 3 grub screws. Then once a month you can turn it up and down with the handle and it's super easy.

My spring preload adjuster is jammed as well. Used plenty of WD40 and still nothing. I am planning to use 8mm wrench with breaker bar as you, so is it better to do it when someone is sitting on the bike (compressed suspension) or not? Which direction is better to break it clockwise (harder) or counterclockwise (softer)? I hope nothing gonna break

Loads of WD-40 like you've already used and gentle turning side to side on the adjuster but. If it's stops moving, plenty more WD-40 and try again.
