2015-2017 Arrow ECU Flash
« on: October 12, 2018, 01:36:00 PM »
Ok .. I perused a lot of threads both here and ADVrider regarding the Triumph OEM Arrow flash for 2015 > 800's. Mostly see < 2015's using aftermarket software. For those running the factory Arrow flash, what is your overall impression?
1.) smoother ?
2.) decrease in mpg ?
3.) cooler running ?
4.) increased performance ?
I ask because my dealer is running an open house this weekend and I'll likely get it for 15-20% off. I have a Leo Vince Evo can installed (Db killer intact) + snorkel out/Uni prefilter installed. At around the 4000-5000 rpm range, it just "feels" like it might be a touch lean, but could be me. I have no decel popping, etc. Don't know if emission regulations make things different between UK/USA bikes, but end results might be close. But WTH, all users please provide your input :). Thx

You can't get an Arrow tune for >2015 as the ECU is "locked" by Triumph to meet emissions regs.  Tuneecu for instance categorically state NOT to connect tuneecu with >15 model year.
Stupid is as stupid does.

It was my thought that Triumph had their own ECU flash for > 2015 when installing the accessory arrow can?

There is a Map for >2015 with Arrow - the difference on the later models is that it's only available via the dealer as far as I am aware so you cant zap it yourself, I fitted the Arrow can to my 2017 XRT and when it went in for its first annual service last week the dealer mapped it for me as part of the service.
Not had chance to find out what difference it's made as yet due to the fact that the ride home was in torrential rain on the M40 and since then I've not had chance to get the bike back out.
One thing I will say is that the bike seemed to run a little hotter with the Arrow can on the standard map, probably due to being a little lean at speed, will be interesting to see if the new map sorts that.
The guys at the dealers did say that it would run OK on the standard map and that it would adjust a little but it would be pushing the parameters of the standard map at higher speeds  / wider throttle.

All done for total cost of $26.38 :062: My ride home was only approx 40 miles, but where I felt the most difference was in the upper 3k/low 4k rpm range. The engine felt noticeably smoother, with nice roll on. Certainly too early for mpg differences, but I like what I feel so far..
