Help! What's this wiring?
« on: October 21, 2018, 02:31:13 PM »
Soon after I bought my Tiger about 3 months ago,  this bit of wiring loom appeared on the left hand side. I've cable tied it to stop it flopping about,  but would like to know what it is before I secure it out of sight.

I'm assuming it's for connecting to a battery charger. Right?

That's not for a battery monitor. That's a proper bit of plug and play looking at the clip that holds it together. Looks almost like an injector plug. Need to know where the cable rubs to.

Can you confirm the wire colours?

From previous threads it looks like it could be for the Purge Valve, as used in the Californian market.

It is not a factory fit they don't use cable ties and leave the ends loose.
Is it for heated clothing?
Does the wiring trace back to the battery?

I bought my Tiger 800 (2013 model) last week and discovered the same cable and socket this morning.  I traced it back into the wiring loom.  I do not have ABS and wondered, initially, whether this could be part of the ABS system and therefore not required on my bike.  As it is part of the original loom I guess it must be for some sort of device which is not fitted to all bikes.
