Firmware upgrade coming for all TFT screen Tigers
« on: November 06, 2018, 09:25:16 PM »
The Triumph Australia importer is posting that there will soon be a firmware upgrade all all Triumphs with TFT screens to allow the sort of connectivity that the new Scrambler 1200 has. They are specifically saying all bikes with TFT screens not just new models from a certain date. Directions from a phone, make and receive calls and play music from a phone.
Anybody heard anything?

When booked in for my 500 mile service I complained to my dealer about the hipster scrambler with google etc, it appears that I was one of many. It seems stupid that a genuine touring mc does not have this option.

Here in the Netherlands there was a pressrelease.
Yes, it is also for the 2018 models with a tftscreen.
You have to buy a Bluetooth module and the software must be updated.
Prices will be released in januari and you can buy it in late spring.

I was discussing the new Scrambler with Pidcocks but they didn't mention an upgrade being available, didn't specifically ask about it to be fair...

I dread to think what Triumph will be charging for the $5 BT dongle required and the firmware update.
I wonder where the dongle will plug in?

So will require a modification to the loom as well I imagine.

@John Will.  Bit unfair calling the Scrambler 1200 a hipster.  I can't imagine many hipsters buying one tbh.

I doubt it. This feature will have been designed into the system before the screens were ever released. There will either be a spare socket somewhere for the BT or there will be a place to plug it in inside the TFT screen module I suspect.
Think how small a BT USB module for a mouse connected to a notebook is. They are only about the same size as a standard motorcycle fuse these days.
