Complete LED replacement headlight for 2011-2017 Tigers
« on: November 12, 2018, 10:24:11 PM »
I stumbled across this.

https://mattgeckoleds.com/shop?olsPage=products%2Fled-headlight-triumph-tiger-800-1200

It is a complete replacement headlight assembly for Tigers (and Explorers) with LED high and low and DRL. The price looks okay, probably way less than buying a replacement complete headlight assembly from Triumph so I'm thinking this may be a better way to go than simply putting LED bulbs into a housing designed for halogen bulbs.

Hmm, nice. Might even give a legal spread. Price in AUD is $530 and shipping will bring the overall to around $600.
Cheers,
Dave

It is E marked as well so no issues with Mr Plod or insurance.
Are you going to ring Stevos and ask the price of a complete headlight assembly? I doubt my heart is up to the answer.  :001:
If you go to World of Triumph and buy everything they say you need for a complete headlight assembly (that is all the grommets and screws and things and bulbs) it comes to UK pounds 377.33 or AUD$673.39 so by the time the Stevos tax is added the LED kit is looking attractive especially as either it (eventually) or the OEM assembly could be sold to defray costs.

Yeah good points there K1. Nah, every time I walk in the door at Dodgy Steve's my wallet starts aching - and that's before I even look at all the two-wheel goodness. A new headlight assy from him? I reckon a new bike would be cheaper! Tempted to ask the Gecko man for an accurate quote though, and to see if they're actually in production...
If only I hadn't spent my tax return on this coffee table prop:

Cheers,
Dave

That is way too nice to fit to the top of an engine.

The only thing that is holding me back from ordering one of those LED lights is that bloody Guzzi V85! :001:

Sorry all, didn't intend to diverge from the topic. Will take this up elsewhere, but yep, it's a FullAuto head for my "old banger" and I also am seriously, dangerously tempted by the Guzzi too!
Cheers,
Dave

In the words of my. selling, dealer principal: "Real dirt-bikes have inner-tubes."
(coincidentally, he's no longer in business...)
Old poem from 'back in the day':
You'll never wear out the Indian Scout -- or its brother the Indian Chief.
They're built like rocks to take hard knocks -- it's the Harleys that give all the grief.

I found the same LED headlight assembly in AliExpress for US$418.00 with free shipping.
That puts the landed cost just under AUD$600.00 in this part of the world.
