Hello from Malta!
« on: December 20, 2018, 08:16:00 AM »
Hello all! I am a34 year old Mech Eng from Malta (tiny rock in the Mediterrenean sea - EU).

From when I was very young, I have always loved anything with a proper engine attached to it. Be it cars, bikes, boats...  :152:

I also adore the sea (scuba/free diving, fishing, boating etc.) and am also an avid dive watch collector (though collection has dwindled to miniscule numbers, with the purchase of my first home  :005:)

I am a motorcycle enthusiast, loving all kind & genres of bikes! However, as I become older I am getting more practical. That's why I am now in the market for a bike which can venture into a multitude of roads/lanes, take us 2 up touring, be moderately light, have enough power (70-100bhp) and a good soft ride. Enter the Tiger XC  :047:

I hope you comrades here can help me make the right choice for a bike that will take me along some memorable trips in 2019  :001:

Hi Buddy and  :401:

You're making the right choice! I'm sure you'll love the Tiger no matter which particular model you go for.
I envy you living and riding in Malta, I have very fond memories of my 2 holidays there.

Cheers  :031:

Paul

May be a tiny rock but there are not many that hold the GC  :123:

Agreed fully. Perhaps, for riding more gnarly traacks and more Torque (read more punch, wheelies & fun  :123:) I could do better with the new KTM Adventure 790 or with a Tenere 700.

I have spoken to both local ADs here. The KTM will be too rich for me, circa 15K here, and the Tenere 700 will only be available late 2019. I am not willing to wait that long, for a bike that might prove too compromised for my needs, to allow for its undoubted offroad prowess.

'For Gallantry'  :169:

Many people, particularly of age, speak very fondly of the British. I remember very well my late Grandpa, who used to have work subcontracted by the British when they were over here, recalling many memories and telling me all stories with many British officials and personnel over here. He was also a strong MFC supporter! Great, great man he was. I grew up living with my grandparents, hence he was like a father to me.

The Vulcan Bomber also crash landed on a road adjacent, to where my grandparents used to live, they were home when it crash landed (circa 100m away). Some metal parts fell in their back yard, as it exploded mid air. Grandpa went to assist as best he could.
