Bfreddy 2331 Saying Hi from Thailand
« on: January 10, 2019, 04:55:41 PM »
Hello to All Members,
I moved to Thailand 5 years ago after taking early retirement. I live in a rural area and have the opportunity to ride often and far.
I currently have a Triumph Bobber Black and a Vespa 150 Sprint. The Vespa I just use as a bicycle for speedy trips to the local shops or running my Step daughter around.
The Bobber is great for cruising around, gets loads of attention here and I wont be parting with it for many years.
However, I want to do some touring and the Bobber isn't great for long distance so today I've ordered a Tiger 800 XCA in the Marine blue. I think the combination of the Bobber and Tiger will be perfect for all needs.
I hope to collect my new bike mid to late next week and I'm excited. Boys and Toys!!!
I'm going to have loads of questions and look forward to the interaction with fellow owners.
😀😀😀

Hi "Freddy2331" and :401: ... Also nice to know, in all probability your Tiger was built just down the road !

Hi Freddy... can I ask how much you are paying and if it is subject to import tax?

Hi Freddy welcome to the Tiger forum. I followed your posts on the Bobber site, I have one of those bad boys as well. The two bikes make a great combination/variety. Good luck with both.

Hi Guys
Thank you for the welcome.
Sorry for not responding sooner. Unfortunately there were some issues with the dealer I had selected to supply my bike so I decided to change to another and there was a delay in receiving my deposit back.
Initially very frustrating however it turned out very well. During the interim period I spotted a 5 month old XCA in my Colour choice with only 4,000km with a massive saving against new.
I collected the bike 2 days ago and first ride was 400km back home.
Superb. I'm a very happy man.

Pete. The cost here for a new XCA is 678,000 Thai Baht. Current rate of exchange to GBP that's around 17,000 however the exchange rates are terrible at the moment due Brexit. Under normal circumstances it would be about 20% less.
My bike I got for 500,000 Thai Baht so a considerable saving.

Hi Freddy, thanks for that.
I was hoping you could avoid the 400cc import tax as they are 'built' over there but at that price I guess they are subject to it.  :003:
