A ride around the hills
« on: January 15, 2019, 12:27:48 AM »
Took the Tiger away with a mate over the weekend and thought I'd post some nice warm photos for you northern hemisphere types.

Every good ride starts at a gas station

an hour later we were into the hills and onto the dirt

and more dirt

We eventually got to the site of Matlock. What was the highest township in Victoria but was largely abandoned after being burnt out a couple of times. Always good views.

but were too late for lunch at the pub at Woods Point another largely abandoned former Gold Mining town but Pete had to explain the concept of a Thin Strom to a V-Strom owner and his son

so it was off down the road past the still operating A1 Gold Mine

to camp for the night beside the Kevington Hilton

Sunday morning after breakfast and fuel in Jamieson it was back onto the dirt

and as we climbed the 47km to the top of My Skene the views got better

and so did the road

eventually we got to the top

if you turned around - stunning

dropping down to Licola the temperature dropped as we were on the coast side of the hill but the views were still worth the odd stop

Once at Licola it was sealed road almost all the way home but you can see why a group of about 30 Ducatisti passed us heading to Licola for lunch at warp speed.

Overall around 550km with close to 300 on dirt roads. Great little ride.

Trying to make my mind up whether or not I appreciate it   :001:

Or that you have made me really jealous.  :010:

Don't let it stop you posting these trips though.

Cheers
