Good choice  :001:
Give a man a fish and he'll demand chips, a six pack of stella, 20 fags and a scratch card to go with it. Make him do some work for his fish. He'll aporeciate it more.

Deep joy - the Michelin Pilot 5 Trail front tyre is excellent.
I've just been for a one hour ride, and not once did the front feel skittish or wander on broken road surfaces.
I have just one question: What was Triumph thinking when they put on that cr@p front tyre?
Thanks to all who gave this tyre the thumbs up, and influenced my choice  :037:.

Interesting to hear, as I would prefer a sportier tyre choice than the OEM's at replacement time. I've used dual-compound Michelins for years, so this is new territory for me ....

Totally agree with ditching the Next tyres TRANSPORTER. They are  :232: dangerous. I changed mine with a set of Michelin Anakees 2 from Demon Tweeks and transformed the bike completely. It cant be worse whichever make you put on.
So far the day is good. Just waiting for that someone to come along!

Must be the odd one out. :015:
I find them fine other than the whitelining which can be a little unsettling but not too bad once you're used to it, I've had much worse tyres.
They have good enough grip to drag the pegs and flick from side to side quite nicely.
I am fitting a 110/80 radial Tourance on the front just to cure the white lineing but otherwise am happy to stick with them.....

So have I had worse tyres. The OEM Pirelli Scorpions on the early Tigers come to mind.
The Tourance Next works okay (not great but okay) on dry roads with a good surface. Put some damp patches on a corner or some leaf litter on the road and the tyre changes character for the worse.
Putting a radial 110/80x 19 on the front is not just better it is transformative and Im sure that once you try it your impression of the Tourance will change.

nope, not the odd one out, I like the Tourance Nexts, other than the odd white/tram lining, I find them grippy wet or dry, a good all round tyre, similar to a fair few other tyres ive tried....but I will go for the 110/80 front soon, if that works ok as a pair, i'll stick with them next time I change

I'll let you know how it goes with the 110/80.
I'm off to IOM and then France next month, so it'll get a good work out  :002:

Whatever tyres we fit will feel better than the worn out/squared off ones we replace, obvious innit. I've had no probs with the Tourance next's, they're on last legs now, back is well squared off but they have done 7,800 heavily laden miles. Still going to give the R5 trail's a try though, in hope of a bit more feedback.

I'm planning to change my current Next rear for one more of the same and then switch to Roadtec 01's, can't stand the thought of spending so much to replace a Next front with plenty of life left in it...
