Tomtom cradle draws 5 milli amps not a problem unless left for a long time with no maintenance charger. I find it a pain in the a** to have the bloody thing shut down every-time I turn the ignition off. wired mine direct to the battery via a fuse. (Tomtom actually say a fuse is in the head unit - but this would not protect the cable). Easy enough to disconnect the cable plug if the bike is left for a long time (over a month ?)

Many thanks for all the responses - Whilst i dont think there is any problem wiring directly to the battery I am going with connecting to a switched cct using the white plug under the seat.  I found the Female plug with correct pins on Ebay for a few quid and as i intend doing some extended touring off piste the last thing i want to worry about is a flat battery.  cheers all Jon

I stuck a plug on mine so to use the top socket. Can the '16 model be wired from the horn? Save me grubbing under there to test, if anybody knows. I did that on my '14 model 1050.

'15 and '16 are the same AFAIK, and I have a TPMS powered successfully from the horn on my '15.

Ok thanks, the reason I asked was 'cos ya can wire from horn on the 13 - 15 1050 but not the '16, the wiring changed with the electrickery upgrade to fbw etc.
