Couple of general riding questions
« on: January 31, 2019, 05:44:56 PM »
All,

enjoying riding my tiger at the mo, but having a few issues, so wanted to tap into the collective for some answers.

I'm having trouble clearing my visor when its raining, on previous bikes, moving my head to one side or down was enough to clear any rain off my visor so i could see where i'm going. i cant seem to accomplish this on the tiger so i'm having to wipe my visor with my glove which just means i have a smeared mess to try and look through.
is there a knack, or do i need to get the kit the adjust the windscreen and move it till i get the airflow right?

The fuel level display. i rode it around till there was 1 bar left showing, and managed to get 15 litres in. I thought the tiger had a 20l tank, so is the fuel level guage really pessimistic, or is the tank smaller than i think. BTW, whats decent fuel economy for one of these, and is there a way to get the dash to show MPG?

There will be more later, my ride home should provide me with a bit more thinking time

thanks :)

I always buy gloves with a blade on left index finger. A quick wipe, like a wiper blade, does the job. Salted roads are nearly always wet and fine spray from another vehicles is more challenging, especially with low sun.

There is a gadget called Visorcat which slips over glove and incorporates sponge and wiper blade. Available online...

All the fuel tanks are 19l, from 1st generation to the current model.

As for the rain on visor, have a look at Visorcat. I'm considering one myself.

Re: fuel economy - I average 54 mpg on my 2015 xrx, with a mixture of riding. The worst I've ever had is 51mpg when ragging the hell out of it, the best 64mpg on a lazy tour of Northern France.

Not sure if the XR has a trip computer, I'm sure someone will come along shortly to confirm either way.

I have a 15 xcx and it's similar....i just go by the miles I do after each fill up. Currently on 160 with 1/2 a tank left according to gauge. As for visor, ive got a tall screen and just a quick lifesaver is enogh to clear rain. At the moment with close to 0 temp, the visor is freezing up with spray off road. Not fun.

Colinhitch, once you apply it, how often are you cleaning your visor before it's gone?
