Brake pad thickness
« on: February 09, 2019, 03:16:28 PM »
Howdy
Just gave my brakes a good clean up from daily winter salt and grime
Everything came apart easy which was good news ( stainless pins )
Front EBC HH Pads have 4mm brake pad left after 14k miles
Rear EBC HH Pads have 3mm brake left after 30k miles
Most of my miles are motorway commuting hence why get good brakes pad life

Just wondering if any one knows how much brake pad depth cames when new ?

Cheers Steveg

7.8mm IIRC

The other dimension to know is the wear limit on a pad. 2.0 mm is time to replace.
Some manufacturers will say the legal limit is 1.0 mm but IMO thats asking for trouble. A scored rotor will ruin your day.

Laterally unstable unless moving.
