2018 xrx centre stand
«

Hi all, just purchased a 2018 xrx. Can anyone confirm if this model comes with a centre stand as standard. Mine doesn't have one. My previous 2015 xrx did, is this a weight/cost saving measure
Thanks in advance

Depending on how you look at it Triumph are either cost saving by removing it to keep the list price of the bike down or ripping people off because they know most owners will buy a stand as an accessory.

To be fair Triumph can't be ripping people off unless they advertise that model as including a centre stand but then selling one without it.
My model comes with one but I only use it when lubricating the chain.

Your right, made cleaning and oiling the chain so much easier
Plus I would always use centre stand rather than the stand if there was any doubt with bike rolling forward due to camber or forward slope on the road. Bet their not cheap

The profit margin in one sold as an accessory will be far higher than the profit on the stand if its fitted at the factory. Remove the stand from the standard fitment list and reduce costs, do not reduce the cost of the bike then sell the stand at a higher margin as an accessory. That is what I meant by rip off.

A centrestand is pretty much essential if you need to remove either wheel.

A bike is more stable on a side stand than a centre stand.
Leave it in first gear, push forward to take up the slack in the transmission then lean it on the side stand. If the stand is on the same level as the wheels, it will be as stable as it can be.

The old Brit bikes had centre stands, some had front & rear stands. A side stand was an extra. Nowadays accountants overrule the Engineers. All my bikes have centre stands, except the traillie, I have a bike lift for that.

Sorry, a vote for no center stand - here. A bike's for riding (not working-on....) -- why carry that, often difficult to deploy, heavy chunk of metal clanking away down there? When, you really don't need it for riding.
When I service my bike in the garage, I have a stand for that.
