Bark busters interfere with clutch cable
« on: February 20, 2019, 07:32:10 PM »
Bought a set of used bark buster storms.
Only way I can install it is having the clutch cable above the clamp.
And it is very tight. Any advice on this is appreciated
Thanks

That's exactly the same problem I have, I have looked around for other options and come up with nothing yet other than i filed away a small amount of the handlebar clamp to allow the cable to have no strain on it where it enters the lever but still to close for my liking.
Cheers Jim

I have a good thumbs length from the cable adjuster to the barkbuster clamp and a fingers width (1cm) between cable and top of clamp.

Is your cable correctly routed?

or you might have the barkbuster rotated too far up, or you have the metal spines on upside down, ie Left on right and visa versa.
Stupid is as stupid does.

I have the Barkbuster Storms on my 2012 Roadie. No problems. Looking at the picture, it seems that the height of the bars may have an influence? Just an idea.

My BB came off my BMW R100GS that was written off a couple of years ago so not made to fit my tiger but fit very well apart from the clutch cable issue, think I will take that one off this morning get it in the vice and see if I can put a little bit more bend in it so the clutch cable passes over properly.
Looking at the pictures I loosened my brake hose and moved it down to pass under the BB as I figured if the bike goes down any movement of the BB will be upwards not down (just my opinion)
Cheers Jim

Barkbusters sell a separate part that has a u shaped step to allow the cable to pass. https://www.mxstore.com.au/p/Bike-Parts/Handlebar-End-Caps/Barkbusters-Offset-Swivel-Connector/BB-054
I had the same problem but fitted one and now its perfect.
