Chain rubbing strip for XC2011?
« on: March 02, 2019, 07:35:14 PM »
What rubbing strip should I buy as a replacement? At the moment the bike has the one with only one rubber. Read in a thread here that the dual one is a bad fit for the models between 2011-2015?
Thanks

I doubt you'll get any choice, I wouldn't hold much hope for still sourcing an original style (single insert ).  :027:
Also owned my 1979 Bonnie T140E from new!

Thanks!
Just curious, why was the single insert better?

The new type is just perfect. I did 46,500 miles on my original 2011 and could probably have made it last longer. The new type reduces the chain slap noise that I found pretty tedious when on dirt roads.

I have a full maintenance log with photos of the new and old rubbing strips at http://www.tiger800rtw.com/tigger-maintenance-repair/

Thanks for the heads up on that part!

I have given up with my new type rubbing strip. I dont know what it is about my bike that isnt compatible but I have just had enough. I had my latest one professionally fitted around Christmas and covered 180 miles on it. Took it off and inspected it to find the centre track chewed up through misalignment and about 1.5mm depth of abrasion into the Aluminium swingarm.

So this heads up has really helped me out.

Happy to hear it helped someone else!
Could it be problem with chain alaignment?
How long is it supposed to last?

For me its fit to the swingarm. I sent countless images and descriptions to Triumph support but just dont think they are interested in this one. I still take the point though that no one else has experienced this on the forum which makes this all more strange with my bike...
I think officially its 12k for inspections but as above members like Stevedo have seen 46,500 :001:
