Anyone in the same boat?
« on: March 17, 2019, 11:50:10 AM »
Hi

I have no one to ride with and would like to meet another biker to go on a trip abroad. How can I find someone that is in a similar position?

You could try organising a meet up and ride down your neck of the woods to meet like-minded people or join a dating agency.
Tiger 800. There's no effing need for it.

Are there no local groups you can tag along with? There'll be someone going away that you get on with and won't mind you tagging along.
I'd also be tempted to just book into one of the well known biker hotels in France or Spain for a week, you won't go short of rides out (with company).

Our group is just a bunch of guys from all over the UK that get away every year, we've just pretty much bumped into each other over the years and ended up going away together.
Or you could book on the Portsmouth>Santander ferry on Saturday 29th June and say hello  :158: , we'll be the very noisy group in the bar  :001:  :031:
Tinkering is what happens when you try something you dont quite know how to do, guided by whim, imagination, and curiosity.

Derek

Why not join your local branch of TOMCC, Bexley is likely your nearest. Some of my chums are in NW London branch. Go to a few rallies & get to know some of the boys. Look in the "Whats on" section of the website.

Bexley
HQ: The Pied Bull, High Street, Farningham
Meets: Tuesdays 20:00
Contact: Roger Roud
Address: 35 Cottenham Close, East Malling, West Malling, Kent. ME19 6BY
Website: https://www.tomcc.org/Home/Branch/BX

Others look in here.

OK, had you been in Gillingham Kent,  I would have passed on details of a IAM group based in my area

I wasn't aware of 2 Gillinghams. Your nearest TOMCC branch would be Somerset then. Good boys, I been to a few of their rallies.

Somerset
HQ: Total Triumph Dealership (Total Snacks), A38 Wellington Road, Bradford on Tone, Taunton, TA4 1ES
Meets: 2nd Saturday of every Month from 10:30am
Website: http://tomcc.org/Home/Branch/SD

Look up Dorset IAM group (does cars and bikes) https://www.dorsetiam.org.uk

They cover Gillingham.  I am with Wilts & Bath but we stop at the A303.  Get yourself advanced qualified and make a bunch of good friends.  Stacks of good roads down there as you well know.  We went down to Swanage today past Corfe Castle and back across the Sandbanks ferry.
Bikes previous: NSU Quickly moped; Honda C50; Honda 305 scrambler; Yamaha RD350 (x2); Suzuki GT380; Honda NX250; Harley Sportster 1200; Yamaha TDM900; Yamaha 1300 cruiser; Honda CB600F5 Hornet; FJR1300 (x2); Triumph Explorer.

Bikes now: Triumph Tiger 800XRT - one bike less than optimum!
