Shoei Neotec II, Black, Medium - worn for 2 hrs. SOLD
« on: April 05, 2019, 05:28:11 PM »
So it felt fine and snug in the shop but after the 2 hour ride home from Chester it felt like my poor noggin was about to implode.  :005:

Cost me around 520 but will let it go for half that.

It's black and the medium size, boxed with all the trimmings.

Any one interested?

:084: I bought a large and had exactly the same experience on a long run.
I took out the cheek pads and that made it OK. A few thousand miles later it fits perfectly.
You might want to try that before selling.

Couldn't you get replacement cheek and centre pads for the next size up?

I have version one which I have used for years and loved but when I tried version 2 in the shop it was really uncomfortable crushing my cheeks even in a larger size.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions chaps, but it was pressure from the top rather than the sides that was the issue. Thus, I don't think any modulation of the cheek-pad configuration is going to help.

Happily, a fellow forum member is up for it - provided I cough for the postage.  :015:

Howdy
Not a Shoei , but I bought a Caberg helmet in size M ( I.m between a M and L helmet size)
Large was comfy to fit from shop
Medium was a bit tight fit from shop
Turned out the medium was really painfull after about an hour riding , even living a mark on the skin
After 2 weeks daily riding fitted like a glove
2 years later the medium is slightly loose fitting ...
Might be worth giving it some more time if u can

cheers Steve

Besides a range of cheek pad sizes Shoei also offer top centre pads in other sizes. You could remove the pad and note the size (and if you have some thinner sheet foam, like from packaging, try a piece in there for feel) if you think it would be worth investing in a thinner pad (if there is a suitable size).

I don't know what the standard thickness pad is or if the following reflects all available sizes or just what they have in stock, may need some more searching?
https://www.helmetcity.co.uk/shoei-centre-pad-neotec-2/

Shoei 2019 catalogue states cheek pads in 31, 35 & 39mm but only says available in various thickness for the top pad.

You can compress the liner slightly to give a better fit.
I had an Arai Chaser V helmet that did the same.
I came across the Arai Service guys while I was in the Isle of Man shortly after buying it and complained to them about it.
The guy basically used the handle of a stubby screwdriver to slightly compress around the forehead area.
It was fine after that.  :002:

Thanks again for the encouragement chaps and for the link Stevie.P. I had a nose and it seems I'll most likely have the standard 9 mm thickness and could opt for the 5 mm for about 70.

It could mean a lot of faffing to no result: I've resigned myself to taking the hit. It will teach me not to rush such weighty decisions in future. It also means that someone gets a bargain and perhaps a higher quality lid than they might have otherwise - a difference that just save their life.

And I get lots of good Karma, so all is well.  :123:
