Satnav mounting on new Tiger
« on: May 12, 2019, 05:27:03 PM »
Im sure this has probably been asked before, if so apologies for repeating.

I have a 2018 Tiger 800 XRT (TFT screen model) and would like to mount my phone/satnav above the screen.

Are there any brackets available on the market?

Cheers. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The standard screen wasn't as good as the Puig on my 2016 XRx,so I altered the bracketing to make it  fit my 2019 model. This gave me the opportunity to mount my Garmin 660 above the clocks utilizing the adjustment slots. Now I can move the GPS up or down to suit riding conditions. IE: When not in use put fully down,in use put fully up more in line of vision.

There is currently no aftermarket sat nav holder for the new TFT models only one or two people making their own with varying success and then selling them.

As said above use the forum search option for relevant threads.

Many of the forum members are keen to mount the gps above the clocks.
I used to ride that way too on an earlier model, but now with the TFT display I've found that a simple RAM mount on the left  handlebar is easier to read, easier to access, and easier to mount and remove.  You might consider that first before interfering with your screen mounts. Much easier.
Laterally unstable unless moving.

I've been working on a idea that's going to be fairly easy to manufacture, lightweight, easy to fit and easy on the eye, they use one of positions for the adjustable screen but it can be the lowest if you are tall or highest position if you are short, I've made 2 so far and fitted to mine and my mates bikes,  we been trying them out and we are happy my mate is well chuffed,  I'm currently making more parts and working a price out. I'll upload a few photos shortly. Cheers Adey

Check my solution out : In General discussion section: titled: 2018 sat nav my solution. Using the screen mounts and longer screws its very stable.  :028:

OK its not above the clocks but its inline to the left of the TFT screen on my XRT. All it took was the Ram ball joint pictured, the rest came with the TomTom.
Nicely hidden from the weather too and doesnt interfere with front vision or ability to clean the screen.
Works in vertical or horizontal mode for the new Tomtom and isnt a challenge for my varifocals.
Ill try and add a picture with the sat nav mounted.

When GPS mounted... It doesn't touch with you mirrors when turning the handlebar?

Id be very interested to see a photo of this with the Sat Nav mounted! Im not keen on having the sat nav so far above the TFT display when the screen is in its highest position. On my last bike, an Explorer, I had the sat nav mounted to the left of the dash display and this solution looks like it will achieve a similar result.
