Picked up my new bike on Thursday
« on: September 09, 2019, 04:02:21 PM »
Picked up my new bike on Thursday, knowing I'd have to wait till I sold my old beast (1990 VFR750)... and wey hey wit sold on Sunday!

One thing I'd love to know... is there any way to upgrade the electronics (its a Gen 2 XC) all I want is the fuel consumption info

No Idea frankly but you could brim fill it, ride a set distance at whatever speed you want the figures for then brim fill it and do the math.

Anything is possible with enough money and commitment but would say its probably cheaper to sell it and buy the bike with the trip computer 👍🏽

My Brother though the same, but they effectively have take it off on the 2nd gen base XT & XR models, which knowing the way car computers work, is not rocket science to re-enable, but just need to find someone that has done it, on my VW I've enabled cruise and infinity variable wipers, its just programming

My 2017 XRT shows it - but if I recall I have to go into one of the two trip options to see it
Its one of the bits that I find without thinking where it lives !

XRt/XCa are the top of the range, unfortunately lesharkey has the base model which forfeits a few of the common details standard across the rest of the model range.

If you want the fuel consumption info, don't bother with the electronics. Just do as penry says (or monitor it tankful by tankful). Mine says I'm doing 49mpg, but the skimpiest knowledge of metric-imperial conversion is sufficient to work out that a consumption of 10 miles per litre plus or minus a couple of percent is 45mpg.
