What is the difference
« on: December 04, 2019, 10:34:12 AM »
Hi
When I bought my Tiger 800 ABS my 2012 it had 20766 tune in the ecu, which I understand is a T800 XC tune. The bike ran fine with no problems. Went to IOM and Scotland on bike. However I replaced it with 20166 which is the latest tune for a T800 ABS, Bike still runs fine and everything works as it should. What is the basic difference between the two tunes

No 20766 is an 800 ABS tune. Not 100% but I think loading an incorrect tune - ABS on a non abs etc would throw up an error because of the CRC check.

21066 is the latest tune in the series for the 800 ABS and just improves on previous tunes. Remember what you can see of the tune in tuneecu is only a small part of the tune. A lot of it is not visible or editable.

I've found loading the newest tune as they become available has always brought an improvement in performance - whether smoothness, fuel consumption etc.

So the basic difference is that 21066 is the current tune that Triumph recommend you use and 20766 is not.

Hi
Thanks for the prompt and concise reply, I have just checked tune ecu and the 766 tune is for the arrow can and the 066 tune is for the standard can so your reply makes perfect sense. Many thanks
