Where to mount additional spot lights?
« on: January 04, 2020, 06:08:20 PM »
I have a 2011 Tiger 800 and would like to fit additional spots such as the Crees but dont have any crash bars. Has anyone fitted additional spots to an older Tiger without crashbar mounts?

Denali in the USA make a bar that fits under the beak and allows lights to be mounted on either side of it.  I would probably be fairly easy to make your own version of it if you wanted to.

Yes, on all 4 of my bikes, including a 2012 XC and a 2018 XCx, I made two simple circular brackets and mounted the beam spots on the fork tubes. Great position because they light in the direction you are turning, unlike frame-mount types.

I used Motech Hawk brackets on mine

Thanks Snapper, err, K1W1, yes, very old pic, that was before colour film!
On my 2018 XCX I found that the a pipe saddle clamp used for plumbing was just the right size, it's painted, and 2 for $5.
From memory, it was 50mm. Used a rubber strip to protect the fork.

But that's my old Tiger. Surely you have a pic of the 2018 somewhere?
