I have used Copaslip for many years with success. Other copper based greases are available!

EDIT: I miss read the original post, mistaking pad retainer pins with slider pins. My apologies.  :431:

Silicon grease on sliders, copaslip on pad retainers...... :420:

Well worth spending a few quid on line and buying stainless caliper pins, and a smear of copper type grease is all I have ever used on the pins with no I'll effects

Came across this pretty interesting information, that remembering the days I worked in coating industry and material science tests, seems pretty legit even if it's to sell their product.

Also don't know if the impact is so important in the real world, but as I understand it copper grease should not be used anywhere in calipers, because you do not want more heat transfer to the brake fluid, that loses efficiency after it gets too warm and spoil faster with more heat.

Very interesting indeed and not something I was aware of.  I have used copper grease on just about everything on every vehicle I have ever owned over the past 30+ years and I must say have never had any issues, even driving on salt laden roads in the UK.  However, I may now reconsider its use.

Copper slip/grease does what it says on the tin, it's an anti-seize for threads, not a lubricant.

Well it's no life or death issue, I guess it would show after many years of using it, but nothing horrible is going to happen, as long as you're not putting so much that it drips on seals or discs.
