under the current situation I do not see me taking part. Everything I hear and read theses days says: no holidays abroad this year (and maybe next year). So it is very likely that you Brits may have the chance to celebrate the Megameet 2020 but the risk of me slowing everone down on the ride out is less than 10%....

this breaks my heart guys how shall I survive this year without seeing you on that strange island of yours?

Hopefully next year will be available but I agree the current signs are many countries may keep their cross border travel restricted this year as a safeguard even if it appears they have this virus under control.
I will be dissapointed you won't be there this year as we both started out our Megameet adventure together back in Yorkshire and have attended every one since.  :003:

You'll have to try and distract yourself during the Megameet weekend by going out and doing a complete rehearsal of your 2021 route plan if you have one formed before then.  :027: :028:  :305:

Take care and we'll hopefully see you 2021 and beyond.  :062:

They are talking 2 - 5 years before the Australian borders open fully. I guess within Europe will be different due to most borders being land rather than sea but I can't see any international travel for pleasure happening for a long time to come unfortunately.

I remain to be convinced. Ursula von der Leyen, the EU's current president has already mumbled about having to take holidays in your own country ( and I didn't read it as a snipe at the UK over brexit  :017:)

    But time will tell

What I do question is how long governments can persist with this 'lockdown' and conciously destroying their economies. Its survivable for a few weeks but some of the experts put forward are saying there may never be a vaccine,
if one s developed it may take 12 to 18 months to develop and deploy
a proven test to see if people have antibodies may take 6 months or more.
in those circumstances a 6 months(or more) lockdown is impractical. there will not be an economy to pay for the health services. Already next years corporation tax take is going to be dramatically reduced. The financial effect of this is far worse that 2008  bankers boom and bust.

The seasonal business such as hotels and restaurants that rely on Summer trade to survive almost certainly wont. The knock on affect to the supporting infrastructure (in terms of employees and suppliers) is horrific.  I hope the Metropole in Llandrindod Wells does survive the shutdown...

    ...and breathe out
