Is anyone able to confirm if 124 link is an exact fit for the XC model with 16/50? Now I'm a bit concerned.

This is the one I bought. I didn't need it in the end so I've got it for when I do eventually change everything over. I did count the links on mine and it's the correct size for a 2012 XC.

Ok here is some progress I made -

Got the new sprockets front/back and chain installed.

A few questions -
Now the washer for the front sprocket how do guys bend it back without damaging the rubber on the front sprocket?

And do the master link looks okay? See attached pics. It is slightly stiff compared to the rest of the chain but wouldn't say by much., But enough to notice.

I bend them slightly (taco style) before I put them on and then just use a punch to fold them over

Looks like you over-did it.
If you could source another (exact same) master link? you could do it over and get it right.

I ordered another master link. Okay to ride in the meanwhile ?  Someone suggested to pry on the plates slightly to loosen up the master link.

Good luck prising them back out.

Worst case is you'll chew up your O rings. But as you get new ones with the new master link it should be ok. Not like you're gonna ride 5000 miles in the time it takes to arrive.

I believe you're overthinking this. If as you state the master link is just a little tighter than the rest  then you're ok. :350:
