Spotlight bulb extension
« on: March 31, 2020, 06:57:40 PM »
I've removed the blown bulb on my OEM halogen spots today. The spade end is a slim style instead of the standard type that's on the new bulbs.
I want to make a small extension cable using a slim spade end for the bikes wiring and a standard female end for the standard Spade end.

Any idea what size cable I should use? I could cut the spade ends down on the new bulb but don't want to risk damaging it.

Had an idea, instead of making a new extension, I could use the original wire off the blown bulb. I just cut the lead off as close to the bulb as possible and crimp on a standard sized female spade end.
Now when I replace the bulb, I can just clip the bulb into place, attach the new extension and then into the original wiring.

it's not -generally- a good idea to handle halogen lamps like that. unless it's the old one
Oils left from your skin can cause a hot spot, resulting in failure of it.
