Table-lift
« on: May 03, 2020, 05:36:21 PM »
Hi all,
Looking for information on the repair of my motorcycle  table - lift . It wont extend to the full height,, it wont rise enough for the safety bars to engage. I have removed the jack from the lift, but I don't know where or how to put more hydraulic oil into it. ???
                                  Thanks

Just try out a local hydraulics company (when open!!!)

Chances are the seal has failed

I had the same issue. They fitted a new seal and filled the system. 40. Money well spent.

Thanks Grumps, did you remove the jack from the lift also?
I was hoping I could do the fix myself, as there aren't any shops open here for another 2wks .

Mine is a full table/platform lift. Very heavy. American thing.

I had to raise the table as far as it would go, lock it off and remove the cylinder and pump as one unit (2 parts connected by the hose).

My problem was that fluid was leaking past the seal into the space above (wrong side of the seal) and getting blown out of a weep hole at the top of the cylinder.

No alternative than a new seal. It took a number of weeks because the seal was not a standard size.

For the sake of 40 it was a no-brainer to get experts to do it. I appreciate you may not have any open right now.
