Accomodation 2021 Germany
« on: May 07, 2020, 05:07:41 PM »
Hi there,

I am checking hotels at the moment as there might be a big run next year when the crisis is hopefully over.

I have an offer here which is 65 Euros/single room and 75 Euro/double room including breakfast, prices are per room and night not per person. Cancellation is free of charge prior 7 days of arrival. Hotel has a restaurant main dishes between 16 and 30 Euros. There is a bar as well no idea what the prices are like don't think they are too heavy.

It's kind of a business hotel next to the motorway so it's easy to reach and a good starting point for the tours I planned so far. So don't expect a traditional hotel with 300 years of history.

Is that reasonable in your eyes? If so I'd try and block 20 rooms and you can book directly there. With that cancellation policy no risk at all..

:028: ..... that's fine with me, as it's more about good location for the rides (for me) than how much the accommodation offers above and beyond a clean room, bed and bathroom. Definately a single room for me if you're after possible number indicators before confirming details.

Sounds good to me Uli - count me in, single or double as available.

Hey guys thank you so much for that reply. Seeing the familiar names here and thinking that under normal circumstances I'd be drinking myself half blind with you lot on this very Friday... Oh well we'll survive this somehow

@wullie: how is life at your end I guess a total stand still professional wise hope you can cope with the situation
@Stevie : missing your no nonsense approach in real life, whatever you post here is read but not the same thing

All good here thanks Uli.  My girls are at home (I rescued one from university in London just before the lockdown).  No work for me but finances are fine and the weather helps.  It is much harder for those with an uncertain income and no garden so I have nothing to complain about.

I was planning to bore you with my planned trip to Norway in the summer (just me, the tiger and a tent for 4 weeks).  Not feeling too optimistic about that happening now though...

Hope all good with you - sounds like you are getting out on your bike a bit more than us.  Even the Blood Bikes in Norfolk are not too busy (fewer accidents and fewer operations I suppose) although we are beginning to move testing kits and samples around.

Hello to you too Steve, see you in October I hope. Keep that old Bonny in good shape!   :031:

Good news Wullie (I need to get used to calling you Alex). Yeah guess we have more legal opportunities to ride the bike. I am riding almost every day. Maybe if the October Megameet is really happening I come over and maybe this requires taking the tinbox aka the car.

Hi Uli. Yes a dissapointing week for you and weekend for the rest of us. I would have been organising my gear together now, ready no doubt for an early start in the morning probably meeting up with (Iain) Rozzer, (Rich) T800XC and Sarah, and then a 'long way for a short cut' route to the Wales base.

Nearly 8 weeks now since the Tiger last went out and it is becoming slightly depressing. With my other half voluntarily taking 12 weeks off unpaid from the official lockdown day (23rd March) to protect me from risk (after the 2 heart attacks), due to her job bringing her into heavy public contact, so I can't even sneak the shortest of rides even up to the local paper shop. I just hope the current restrictions are eased a bit soon, though I clearly see plenty of locals who haven't and don't appear to consider social distancing a serious thing.

Take care and safe (all) and see you as soon as we can get together safely.  :028:

Your hotel idea seems fine to me Uli. It may be a year away but I'm keeping positive for the Euro MegaMeet and looking forward to it.

And what is worse than the blooming lockdown..........the weather is planned as GOOD in Wales for this weekend. It's unheard of to have a non-soaking Tigermeet in Wales. Sods Law!

Anyway, I have a proposition for discussion....... could we delay the 2021 Tigermeet from the May dates to dates in June? I know it's against tradition, but I was toying with taking a detour down to the Alps - Grossglockner, maybe the Stelvio, Route de Grande Alps etc etc and throwing in a couple of balcony roads in, in France on the way home.

The reason for a June date instead of the May date.......more mountain passes will be open.

What are the thoughts on this?
Triumph Scrambler - Pacific Blue Jan 2016 - 2019
BMW R1200 GSA 2017 to 2019
Explorer - Blue 2013 to 2017
Tiger 800 XC - Orange 2011 - 2013

I take it you meant the extended tour was for all who wanted to go with you ... which would definitely be a yes from me :017: ... however ...

having retired and few obstacles, I'd 99% have to pass on June 2021 as my wife has to always (ridiculously) book the next years holiday dates on 1st April the previous year and she has booked 3 weeks in June due to next year being our 40th wedding anniversary and her wish to go do an Alaskan cruise and western Canada as a treat. The only obstacle to that would be if international travel is still restricted (horrendous possibility) and blocked it . but then, if it were still that bad I probably wouldn't gain as Europe could still be equally restricted. :027: :003:

Anyway, sounds like a great idea for those who can get or have the time, and funds ... so hopefully response to Uli and your proposal will be a bit more forthcoming over the next few days than currently. :084:
