It has a single filter that gets replaced every 12K miles

Depends if the last owner left one on it.

Lift your seat off. Look to the left side of the battery. If you see a big red thing that looks like a microphone then you have one installed. If not it will just be a black plastic downwards pointing snorkel.

I've been comtemplating this prefilter, but is this any beneficial for almost only road riding, in not really dusty places !?

I was sceptical until about a year after I'd fitted pre-filters on my KTM, this is what the main filter and box looked like when I cracked it open.

As I let the dealership do the services, I'm wondering if they'd forego replacing filter if unnecessary, I'm not convinced.

Thanks for the info I'll think about it.

If they are a Triumph authorised dealer they will change the filter every time the service book says to change it unless you specifically tell them not to.

This was my pre filter after a couple of months of summer riding without being cleaned and my main air filter element after it had been inside the bike for 2 years / 20,000km.
