10000 mile report
« on: June 02, 2020, 10:01:12 PM »
Hi All
Well my 2016 xrx  has just reached 10k, !!!!!!
Yup I know just about run in ---- well the thing about being a grandad. is  not so much time for yourself,  anyway its a milestone so I though I would post a few comments.
Now bearing in mind my last bike was a 1200 cc Crosstourer, here is what I find.,
Comfort----- Now I do have a dodgy back , but I must say even with the standard seat I find it very comfortable - I have fitted an Airflow screen and it allows 75-80 cruising very easily ( Not a patch on the Crosstourer which would cruise at 100 two up !!!)
Engine ------It is a little under geared , but then this does give it good acceleration
Economy --- 55-60 mpg
Controls --- engine modes are a gimmick , cruise control is ok at 2 o'clock it the morning - mid afternoon  , roads are too busy to engage it !!!
why no heated grips on this spec??
Headlights ---- much better than the  Crosstourer
looks----mine is the all black model , I think its a good colour
Service intervals---6000miles !!! why???? the  Crosstourer was 8000!!! I suppose its income for the dealers
Overall----Very pleased with bike , its a good package---
and Finally -------  Is it a keeper or will I p/x it for a 900 . well its worth  maybe 5.5K and I might keep it for another year then see

Excuse my ignorance please, I thought heated grips were standard on the XRX?  Certainly got them on mine!

It may have changed on the introduction of the 'gen 3' bikes but on the 'gen 2' (afaik) only standard on the top model XRT.
Also owned my 1979 Bonnie T140E from new!

We don't stop playing because we grow old .. WE GROW OLD BECAUSE WE STOP PLAYING!!!

Just an add-on to my report
Did a day trip down to Bournemouth over 400 miles return , now with quieter motorways I decided to stick to 70ish and yup got over 200 miles from a tank .....just....... only showed 10 miles on range as a got back  :047: Although the bike its self its comfortable enough the engine did seem very busy and thats at only 5000 rpm !!! at 6000 and above it does intrude into the ride quality, its a shame really- the bike will accelerate with ease from this speed  but will not cruise :084:

They were not standard on my 2016 XRX in Australia. What is and is not standard varies a little from country to country and model year to model year.

Motorways are not the natural habitat for Tigers....
Life is too short to drink bad wine or to ride bad bikes.
