Camping in Wales next month
« on: June 11, 2020, 07:58:10 PM »
Does anyone have any up to date info on whether Camp sites are open in Wales next month? I have a trip planned for the second week in July and was hoping to tour Wales if possible otherwise it will be a trip up to Northumberland via peak district and North Yorkshire Moors.

I would be surprised, but more details will be available a week tomorrow. I wouldnt bank on it, the Welsh first minister is being extremely over cautious at the moment. We still have instructions to stay local and not travel more than five miles from our homes. Rumour has it that will continue after his next statement, in which case you wont even get into wales.

As far as I know, there is no camping anywhere, is there?
If so, Northumberland and back is going to be a long days ride  :114:

Camping is permitted in England from the 4th July, I'm just not sure what the Welsh and Scots plans are.

I read it as caravans & motorhomes with their own facilities might be allowed on campsites after 4th July, TBC.

No tent camping as no facilities will be open, impossible to isolate &/or sanitize.

I would say things will change. The hospitality industry is unviable with the 2 mtr rule everybody knows that. It will have to be changed. There is no way you can police it effectively so its stupid to keep it unless you want to destroy the economy even more. I think things will scale down quite quickly unless the 2nd wave is evident. I had a licensed premises for 10 years i know how people actually behave and its never how you think it is. London came out of the lockdown mentality 2 weeks before the change. London is the problem not places like Wales.

It is far from over, doubt we'll have any camping for a while yet. Some rallies have not yet been cancelled, there is hope. And risk, thanks to the eejits over the past week.
